Interior finishes are not a single CSI division — they span six. Under CSI MasterFormat 2020, finish carpentry and cabinetry are Division 06, doors and mirrors are Division 08, flooring and paint are Division 09, specialties are Division 10, countertops are Division 12, and plumbing fixtures are Division 22. This guide maps each finish scope to its division and section number so estimators, specifiers, and GCs can find the right MasterFormat reference fast.
Interior finishes are the last packages installed on a project, but they are scattered across the middle and end of the CSI MasterFormat structure. A general contractor bidding an interior finishes package is coordinating scope that lives under six different divisions, which is exactly why a single-subcontract finishes package removes the coordination burden of managing six separate specialty subs. The table below is the quick reference; each row links to the division pillar with the full scope breakdown.

Division 06 — finish carpentry & cabinetry
Finish carpentry is specified under section 06 20 00, and architectural woodwork and cabinetry under 06 40 00, both within Division 06 — Wood, Plastics & Composites. Factory-built manufactured casework is sometimes specified instead under 12 35 00 in Division 12, so confirm which convention a given project’s spec uses. Full scope on the Division 6 — Finish Carpentry & Cabinets pillar.
Division 08 — doors, hardware & mirrors
Door hardware is section 08 71 00, glazing is 08 80 00, and mirrors are 08 83 00, all within Division 08 — Openings. On multifamily interiors this division carries the shower door enclosure and mirror package. See the Division 8 — Shower Doors & Mirrors pillar.
Division 09 — flooring & finishes
Division 09 — Finishes is the broadest interior finishes division. Tiling is 09 30 00, the flooring category is 09 60 00, resilient flooring including LVP is 09 65 00, carpeting is 09 68 00, and painting is 09 90 00. Full breakdown on the Division 9 — Flooring pillar.
Division 10 — specialties
Division 10 — Specialties covers the prefabricated components installed near the end of the job: toilet compartments and partitions (10 21 13), signage (10 14 00), toilet and bath accessories (10 28 00), fire protection specialties (10 44 00), lockers (10 51 00), and postal specialties such as mailboxes (10 55 00). See the Division 10 — Specialties pillar.
Division 12 — countertops (and window treatments)
Countertops are specified under 12 36 00, within Division 12 — Furnishings, across quartz, laminate, granite, and solid surface. Window treatments also fall under Division 12: blinds and shades are specified under section 12 20 00 (Window Treatments), with roller and roman shades at 12 24 00 and blinds at 12 21 00 — a point worth confirming on any project, since window treatments are a Division 12 furnishing rather than a Division 10 specialty. See the Division 12 — Countertops & Solid Surface and Division 11 — Window Treatments pillars.
Division 22 — plumbing fixtures
Plumbing fixtures are specified under section 22 40 00, within Division 22 — Plumbing. On a finishes package this is a supply-and-logistics scope — sinks, shower pans, surrounds, and fixture trim kits delivered and staged for a licensed plumbing subcontractor to connect. See the Division 22 — Plumbing Specialties pillar.
Coordinating six divisions under one subcontract
The reason interior finishes are hard to coordinate is precisely that they live under six MasterFormat divisions with dependencies that cross division lines — cabinet installation (Div 06) sets the countertop template timing (Div 12), which sets the sink cutout dimensions against the plumbing fixtures (Div 22). When each division is a separate specialty sub, the general contractor manages every one of those handoffs. Innergy carries all of it under a single subcontract.
